This is a day of discovery and history where you visit one of the most interesting and scenic areas of the Algarve. Steeped in tradition, encompassing the sea it’s the perfect way to acquaint yourself with the Algarve.
First it’s on to Ponta de Piedade, well known for its beautiful shaped cliffs, where you are able to see different rock formations that the sea and wind formed through the centuries – the camel, the elephant, the kissing couple…
We will then stop at Praia do Camilo, a small and secluded beach, protected by the cliffs, where you can enjoy the fresh air and take some photos. We will also stop for photos and scenic views at Praia D. Ana and Porto de Mós, considered the most famous beaches in the Lagos area.
No journey into the Algarve’s past would be complete without a visit to the historical seaport town of Lagos, where new and old live in harmony. See the modern marina with its luxurious yachts. Visit the old slave market and admire the statue of Prince Henry the Navigator. A visit to the beautiful St. Anthony’s Church, known as the golden church and one of the best examples of the Baroque style in the Algarve, is also foreseen (entrance fee not included).
Here you will have free time for lunch.
The last visit of the day is to the oyster beds in the Ria de Alvor where you learn how the oysters grow and are harvested. End the day by enjoying fresh delicious oysters, straight from the shell!
A day full of great memories!
